How to Care for your New Puppy

 Getting a new puppy is always an exciting event. However, you have to work very hard to take proper care of it. Here are some tips on how to care for your new puppy:

1. Make the First Night comfortable: You will naturally be very excited to get a new puppy, but your puppy may get nervous initially. Hence, you New Puppyhave to try and make sure that the first night and the initial few days are very comfortable for your puppy. Don’t bring too many visitors to your house. Your puppy may get nervous.

2. Give your puppy a comfortable place to sleep:

It is very important to give your puppy a safe and comfortable place to sleep in. You can buy a dog bed or build one by yourself. Just make sure that it is ready before your puppy arrives.

3. Visit the vet: One of the first things which you should do after bringing home a new puppy is to make an appointment with the vet. The vet will make sure that your puppy gets all the necessary vaccinations. He or she will also be able to guide you and offer valuable tips on how to take care of a puppy. Make sure that your puppy doesn’t leave the home for at least 1 week after getting vaccinated.

4. Establish a routine:

Draw up a routine which you want your puppy to follow regularly. After following the same routine for some days, your puppy will get to know when to eat, when to exercise and when to sleep. This will make things much easier for you.

5. Give proper food: First, try to find out what was the diet of your puppy before you brought him home. If you change the diet suddenly, then it can result in stomach problems. Also, make sure that your puppy is getting all the essential nutrients. Your vet can help you out in this regard.

6. Make your home safe:

Before bringing in your puppy, you have to make sure that your home is safe. Get rid of all the electrical wires or sharp edges which can hurt your puppy. Also, make sure that your puppy doesn’t have access to harmful substances like rat poisons or fertilizers.

7. Exercise your puppy:

Your puppy should get sufficient exercise in order to maintain proper health. Going on a daily walk is the best way to keep your puppy fit. Gradually with time, you should also learn how to leash train your puppy.
